Machakos traders based within Marikiti located in Machakos Central Business District have called on Machakos government led by the governor Hon Wavinya Ndeti to intervene and save them from being evicted from Marikiti and getting transferred to Mavivye Market without following the right procedures.

According to the traders, a senior county adminstrator identified as Simon Kitheka and who is allied to Machakos cartels known within the business community and who have interest with the market stalls at Machakos Central Business District have been pushing to have them kicked out illegally.

“This is so sad. We are being punished for voting in Wavinya who campaigned with a promise of ensuring traders like us put plate on the table with ease but this is not case. We want Wavinya to intervene and bring order or else it will not be business as usual. ” Said an irritated trader speaking to Channel 15 News

The local traders paralyzed business this afternoon within Marikiti denying vehicles ferrying vegetables inside from accessing and dropping them the market demanding to be addressed by the County government.

Police had to be called in to break the dreadlock which nearly lasted for an hour.

Channel 15 News contacted Simon Kitheka accused of evicting the traders illegally from the market but our calls went unanswered by press time.

A call to Machakos County Minster of Trade went unanswered and our messages were not replied.
