One person has died on the spot and several others are nursing serious injuries following a tragic road accident involving a pickup and a tractor near Makutano Ma Mwala area along the busy Machakos-Kitui Highway.

Confirming the incident to Channel 15 News via phone, Mwala Sub-County Police Commander Fredrick Satur said the driver of the pickup lost control of the speeding vehicle, crashing head-on into an oncoming tractor just a few meters before Makutano Ma Mwala junction.

“The driver died on the spot due to the impact, while his passenger sustained serious injuries. A pedestrian who was walking along the road was also injured during the melee,” Commander Satur stated.
