Police in Embu County are investigating a tragic incident in which a 25-year-old woman allegedly poisoned her two children before attempting to take her own life. The shocking event, believed to be sparked by a domestic quarrel, took place on Monday afternoon in Kivaa, Masinga.
Local authorities report that the woman was found by a Good Samaritan in a forest on Monday evening. She was frothing at the mouth, lying next to her unconscious 9-year-old child and the lifeless body of her 6-year-old. It is alleged that the woman forced the children to ingest the poisonous substance before consuming it herself.
The Good Samaritan quickly transported the victims to Kivaa Health Centre, where the 6-year-old was pronounced dead upon arrival. The mother and the 9-year-old received first aid at the health center before being transferred to Embu Level 5 Hospital for further treatment.
The 9-year-old remains in critical condition, while the mother is currently under medical care and police custody as investigations continue. Authorities are working to uncover the details behind the domestic dispute that led to this tragic incident.
