Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua becomes the first Deputy President to be removed from office by impeachment. He will now lose the following luxurious retirement perks, including:
A Sh720,000 monthly pension
A Sh8.64 million lump sum payment
A fuel allowance of Sh108,000
Two saloon cars
A luxury 4-wheel drive vehicle
One personal assistant
An armed security detail
Three drivers
One secretary
One accountant
Two housekeepers
Two senior support staff
Two cleaners

In an unprecedented move, Gachagua’s impeachment will not only cut short his political career but also deny him the numerous privileges meant to cushion retired Deputy Presidents in Kenya.
