Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi was on Sunday afternoon allegedly abducted outside Full Gospel Church in Mugutha by men believed to be plainclothes officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The MP had just concluded a worship service when he was forcibly bundled into a waiting Subaru, leaving worshippers screaming and stunned.

The dramatic operation unfolded in full view of congregants, turning a peaceful Sunday into a scene of confusion and fear. The officers, who did not identify themselves, reportedly brushed off pleas from church leaders and carried out what appeared to be a calculated swoop.
In the chaos, Koimburi’s wife, Mama Shiru, attempted to intervene—insisting she be arrested alongside her husband. Eyewitnesses say she clung to the car, crying out, “We leave together or not at all!” But instead of compassion, she was forcefully ejected from the vehicle and sustained injuries in the scuffle.

This is the second time the legislator has been snatched under murky circumstances, raising fears of a deeper political plot. Authorities have remained tight-lipped, while critics accuse the state of using brute force to silence dissent.
As Kenyans react with disbelief and dark humor online, one phrase captures the mood of the nation: Tuheshimiane. Even the church is no longer sacred.
