Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has delivered a fiery and heartfelt call for unity and purpose-driven leadership, urging both the County Assembly and Executive to abandon political theatrics and focus on delivering for the people.

“Stop the drama, serve the people!” was the unspoken message echoed throughout his bold State of the County Address delivered at the County Assembly chambers on Tuesday afternoon.

“As I conclude, allow me to sincerely thank this Honourable Assembly for the cooperation you have demonstrated as we work to deliver quality, timely, and impactful services to the people of Kitui,” Governor Malombe said in his opening remarks.

He made it clear that the people of Kitui are tired of petty political battles and are instead demanding development and solutions to everyday challenges.

“They are not looking for discord. They are looking for results. They are yearning for better healthcare services, fairly well-maintained roads, improved water access, a functional local economy where money is in circulation, an environment that promotes investments and the creation of jobs, opportunities, and wealth,” he emphasized.

Governor Malombe urged leaders to reject political distractions and focus on the shared responsibility of uplifting the county’s social and economic welfare.

“The profound duty and privilege of transforming the lives of our people falls squarely upon us as leaders within both the County Executive and the County Assembly. It is a responsibility we must discharge with humility, integrity, and determination,” he said.

He passionately appealed to county leaders to uphold unity of purpose, sharpen their focus, and reaffirm their commitment to public service, saying the trust placed in them by the electorate must not be betrayed.

“To the great people of Kitui, I thank you deeply and wholeheartedly, for your resilience and enduring belief in our ability to deliver. Your trust continues to fuel our passion,” he stated.

Quoting renowned leadership author John C. Maxwell, he reminded the Assembly that: “Teamwork makes the dream work.”

Governor Malombe concluded by reaffirming his administration’s vision to make Kitui “a model county of inclusive development, a beacon of service delivery, and a home of opportunity for all.”

The address comes amid murmurs of political friction in the region and growing public calls for more visible development. The Governor’s speech appears to be a firm reminder to Kitui’s political class that public service must trump personal interests.
