A tragic road accident has claimed the lives of six people in the Manyatta area of Taita Taveta County after a Chania Executive bus collided head-on with a trailer along the busy Nairobi–Mombasa Highway.
According to preliminary reports, the driver of the Chania Executive bus was attempting to overtake another vehicle when the oncoming trailer rammed into the bus. The impact severely damaged the right side of the bus before it veered off the highway.

Witnesses described the crash as devastating, with emergency responders rushing to the scene shortly after the collision.
Six people were confirmed dead at the scene in what authorities are terming one of the latest fatal accidents on the Nairobi–Mombasa highway.
Several other passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Moi Referral Hospital Voi for emergency medical treatment.
The identities of the deceased are yet to be officially released as police continue investigations into the cause of the accident.

The Nairobi–Mombasa highway remains one of Kenya’s busiest transport corridors, linking the capital to the Coast region. However, frequent overtaking maneuvers, heavy commercial traffic, and speeding have continued to pose serious safety risks to motorists and passengers.
