Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja Kiricho has cast serious doubt on the alleged abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi, citing lack of evidence, inconsistencies in video footage, and a denial from a key witness at the supposed crime scene. Kanja warned that if it is confirmed the MP faked the incident, legal action will be taken against him.

Speaking during a press briefing earlier today, IG Kanja said investigations into the alleged abduction had revealed glaring inconsistencies, including discrepancies in the landscape shown in the viral video that first raised the alarm. “Detectives analysed the video circulated online and found notable differences in the terrain compared to the location the MP claimed to have been abducted from,” he revealed.
Adding more intrigue to the unfolding saga, Kanja stated that the caretaker of the farm where Koimburi was allegedly found has denied witnessing any suspicious activity. “There’s no corroboration from anyone on the ground,” the IG said, raising questions about whether the MP’s claims were part of a broader scheme.

Even more baffling, police say the legislator was driven to Karen Hospital using his own vehicle—contradicting earlier reports that suggested he was dumped by his abductors. “How did an abductee end up at a hospital in his own car?” an officer privy to the investigation posed rhetorically.
Perhaps most telling, however, is that police detectives were denied access to the MP at Karen Hospital, a move Kanja described as highly suspicious. He confirmed that Koimburi will be questioned once access is granted, but warned that if the abduction claim turns out to be false, the full weight of the law will fall on the legislator.

“If this was a staged event or a publicity stunt, we will not hesitate to press charges. The law must be respected,” Kanja cautioned, sending a strong message to politicians who might be tempted to manufacture drama for attention or political mileage.
The nation now watches with bated breath as police prepare to question the Juja MP—whose dramatic disappearance and sudden reappearance have now come under serious scrutiny. Was it a real kidnapping, or is this the latest episode in Kenya’s growing list of political theatrics? Time—and investigations—will tell.
