Residents of Ikanga Location in Kitui South Sub-County are reeling in shock after a middle-aged man reportedly slit his 9-months-old daughter’s throat before dumping her lifeless body in a pit latrine and disappearing without a trace.

Confirming the gruesome incident to Channel 15 News, Ikanga Location Chief Onesmus Mutaula said the suspect, believed to have been involved in a bitter domestic row with his wife, turned his rage on the innocent child.

According to preliminary investigations, the man first strangled the minor before taking a kitchen knife and slitting her throat in cold blood. In a chilling move, the suspect then dumped the little girl’s body into a nearby pit latrine and vanished.

Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspect, who is feared to be armed and dangerous.

“This is a very unfortunate and heartbreaking incident. We suspect the man committed the heinous act after a quarrel with his wife. We are pursuing him and urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station,” Chief Mutaula told Channel 15 News.

The body of the minor has been retrieved and moved to Mutomo Level 4 Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.

The brutal killing has sparked outrage and fear in Ikanga, with locals calling on authorities to speed up investigations and ensure the suspect is brought to justice.

Police at Ikanga Station have assured residents that every effort is being made to track down the fugitive as investigations continue
