Several passengers are currently hospitalised with serious injuries following a road accident at Kwa-Toma, in Kyatune location, Kitui South along Kitui-Kibwezi road.
The grisly accident involved a Kitui bound Kinatwa Prestige 14-seater matatu which occurred at around 10:30am on Thursday morning.
The injured have been admitted to Mutomo Level 4 Mission Hospital .
The matatu that was traveling from Kilifi when it lost direction veering off the road before hitting a tree .
According to an eye witness who spoke to Channel 15 News, the matatu was speeding and its driver attempted to overtake a truck when it lost direction.
“The matatu driver wanted to overtake but there was another oncoming vehicle. When the driver realised that he could not overtake, he tried to get back to his lane but it was too late,” He said
