Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has expressed shock over the government’s inaction against a controversial cartoonist known as Kibet Bull on X (formerly Twitter), accusing him of running a defamatory campaign against President William Ruto.

“Surely, why is the government of Kenya not seeking the assistance of the @USEmbassyKenya to involve the CIA and FBI in locating this treasonous cartoonist? I hear he is somewhere north of Buffalo, NY. He should be extradited to Kenya and brought to ‘justice.’ I am confident Chief Justice Martha Koome can organize a friendly magistrate to sentence him to lifetime imprisonment,” Ahmednasir tweeted.

Kibet Bull, the creator of the viral #RutoDelivers cartoons, has dismissed the criticism and claims that his campaign is being countered by government-funded bloggers. He alleged that the sudden influx of pro-government cartoons is part of an orchestrated effort to suppress dissent.
“The government has deployed bloggers on tight deadlines to counter my work and silence other Kenyans,” Kibet stated. He also revealed that his employer has received threats over his cartoons, with one incident involving a call from a private number.

“They are doing this because they don’t know who I am. They think someone is financing me,” he added.
Despite the pressure, Kibet Bull has doubled down on his critique of the Ruto administration, insisting that the government has failed to deliver on its promises. His cartoons have sparked significant online discourse, highlighting deep divisions in public opinion on the government’s performance.

The escalating standoff underscores the tension between freedom of expression and the government’s efforts to control narratives in the digital age.
