Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio has declared that the death of Yenzuva Primary School teacher Peninah Kitondo Musili was not a suicide but a case of murder, issuing a 24-hour ultimatum for the arrest of the prime suspect.
Speaking on Saturday during the burial of the late teacher at Kavililo Village, Kyome Thaana Ward in Mwingi West, the senator said investigations had confirmed that Peninah did not take her own life, describing her death as “murder most foul.”

Addressing mourners, Senator Kiio warned that the people of the area were peaceful but should not be provoked by delays in justice.
“These people are peaceful people. They should not be pushed,” the senator said, as he directed security agencies to ensure the suspect is arrested by Monday.
The senator emphasized that life is sacred, vowing to stand with the family, the community, and the teaching fraternity until justice is served.
“I join hands with the people of Kavililo Village, Kyome Thaana Ward in Mwingi West in putting into task our security agencies to ensure speedy investigations into the murder of teacher Peninah Kitondo Musili,” Kiio said.

He noted that while the family had laid Peninah to rest, the pursuit of justice was far from over.
“We have today laid Peninah to rest, but we shall ensure justice is served. As the Kitui County Senator, I have given them a 24-hour ultimatum,” he added.

The senator further called for decisive action, saying accountability must follow to restore public confidence.
“Heads must roll. Justice must be served to the family, the community, and the teaching fraternity in Mwingi West,” he stated.
Security agencies are yet to issue an official response to the ultimatum, even as investigations into the murder of the teacher continue. The case has drawn countywide attention, intensifying calls for accountability and swift action in what has become one of the most closely watched investigations in Kitui County in recent days.
