Kenyans are still trying to process the scenes from Friday night after Roman Catholic priest Fr. Michael Watenga made an unexpected appearance at Club Timber XO in Eldoret, fully dressed in his church attire and walking in like it was the most normal thing in the world.

Padre Michael Watenga left the entire crowd at Timber XO frozen like WiFi with no bundles when he casually walked into the nightclub. One moment revellers were deep in Amapiano vibes, the next minute people were side-eyeing the dancefloor wondering whether a surprise confession session was about to start. Even the DJ hesitated for a second, lowering the bass like heavenly auditors had entered the premises.

The good padre was unbothered — calm, steady, almost as if he’d been dispatched on a spiritual fact-finding mission titled: “Where Exactly Do My Flock Get Lost on Friday Nights?”
And just like that, the room shifted. Catholic hymns replaced the club mixes as he made his way inside, and the atmosphere flipped from party energy to a strangely warm and reverent silence.

Fr. Watenga later explained that he has deliberately taken his ministry to places many would least expect, choosing to walk into pubs and entertainment spots to meet people right where they are. His visit to Timber XO, he said, was not for revelry but for mission.
Videos that have since gone viral show him blessing patrons, praying over them, and speaking hope into the room — all while stunned revellers captured every moment. At one point, patrons even offered offerings inside the club, a twist no one saw coming.
Let’s just say… if holiness had a “surprise visit” feature, Fr. Watenga activated it flawlessly — and Eldoret is still talking about it.
