Detectives from the Operations Action Team (OAT), working in collaboration with their Transmara South counterparts, have arrested a key suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Ang’ata Barrikoi, Narok County.
The suspect, Joshua Nkabash Sakuyiai, was arrested in Lolgorian on December 31, 2025, following an intensive manhunt linked to the killing of 35-year-old Charles Korir, who was shot dead on August 13, 2025.
According to police reports, the incident occurred near Loliondo Farm in Mashangwa area, along the Ngeendalel–Mashangwa Road, after residents reported hearing gunshots in the area. Officers who responded to the scene found Korir’s body with two gunshot wounds to the head, suggesting he had been shot at close range.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was ambushed by a gang of about eight armed men, who attacked him before fleeing through a sugarcane plantation towards Migori County.
The crime scene was documented by forensic officers, and the body was later transferred to Kilgoris Hospital Mortuary for preservation and postmortem examination.
Following forensic analysis and intelligence-led operations, detectives traced and arrested Sakuyiai in Lolgorian. He was subsequently arraigned before the Kilgoris Law Courts, where he was granted cash bail of Sh100,000. However, after failing to raise the amount, the suspect was remanded at Lolgorian Police Station.
The case is scheduled for mention on January 13, 2026, as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, police say efforts are ongoing to track down other suspects believed to have been involved in the attack, who remain at large. Detectives have appealed to members of the public to share any information that may assist in the arrests.
