Principal Secretary for Livestock Development Jonathan Mueke has claimed that his 14 years under Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka yielded no political reward, while just two years working with President William Ruto earned him appointment as a Principal Secretary.
Speaking on Sunday during a thanksgiving service at St. Martin’s Anglican Cathedral in Kitui attended by President Ruto, Mueke used his own political journey to urge the Kamba community to abandon Kalonzo’s leadership ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“I started my political career in 2006 with Kalonzo Musyoka. I was young, ambitious and educated. I stayed with him for 14 years and got nowhere,” Mueke said.
He said President Ruto entrusted him with responsibilities, mentored him and later elevated him to the position of Principal Secretary.
“You gave me an assignment, monitored my work and told me you would mentor me. In just two years, you made me a Principal Secretary. Fourteen years with Kalonzo, nothing. Two years with President Ruto, I became a PS. I thank you,” he said.
Mueke then launched a direct political attack on the Wiper leader, urging Kamba voters to “avoid him like the plague” and instead support President Ruto’s administration, arguing that it offers greater opportunities for the region.
His remarks underscore the Kenya Kwanza administration’s growing push to erode Kalonzo’s political dominance in Ukambani as campaigns for the 2027 elections begin to gather momentum.
