Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has hosted young businessman Brian Mungai, popularly known as Brayo, who has expressed interest in acquiring Club Volume, the entertainment establishment owned by the former county boss in Shanzu, Mombasa.
Sonko revealed the development after meeting Mungai alongside his personal assistant, Francis Wambua, and legal adviser, Sammy Musyimi.

In a statement shared after the meeting, Sonko said Mungai, one of the owners of the Alcapone Clubs, had expressed interest in purchasing Club Volume, potentially opening the door to a change of ownership at the popular entertainment establishment.

Alcapone Clubs operates outlets in Nyali, Thika Road and Nakuru.
The former governor, however, did not disclose the proposed purchase price, the terms of the negotiations or whether the two parties had reached an agreement.
The development comes against the backdrop of Sonko’s publicly expressed decision to step away from clubbing and alcohol-related activities, a move that has also brought the future of his hospitality investments into focus.

Despite his decision to leave the nightlife scene, Sonko maintained that he would continue supporting and mentoring young entrepreneurs, particularly members of Generation Z seeking opportunities in business.
“Although I’ve quit clubbing and alcohol, I’ll never stop mentoring and empowering young Gen Z entrepreneurs,” Sonko said.
He went on to wish Mungai and other hardworking young entrepreneurs success, describing his commitment to supporting emerging businesspeople as something he intends to maintain.
The possible acquisition of Club Volume by Mungai would mark a significant development for the establishment, which has been associated with Sonko’s business interests in the coastal hospitality sector.
However, until a formal agreement is announced, Mungai’s interest remains at the negotiation stage, with Sonko yet to confirm whether he intends to accept an offer for the business.

For Sonko, the latest development signals an effort to move on from the nightlife business while maintaining his involvement in mentoring and empowering the next generation of Kenyan entrepreneurs.
