    Kyalo Kya Maendeeo Showcases Kitui Products At The Nairobi International Trade Fair

    For the first time since inception of devolved government a decade later , Kitui women have had an opportunity to showcase their products at the ongoing Nairobi International Trade Fair which started yesterday and will go until 1st of October.

    The several groups of women from Kyalo Kya Maendeeo Community Based Organization program, will spend this week at Jamhuri Show Ground displaying and selling their products as away of marketing Kitui locally made products and showcasing them to the World.

    Nairobi Governor His Excellence Johnson Sakaja who visited Kyalo Kya Maendeeo Stand today, lauded KKM Founder Hon Augustus Kyalo for initiating a robust program with the aim of empowering women and raising visibility of the women of Kitui County in the political, economic, social and cultural development of the county.

    Speaking to Channel 15 News via a phone Kyalo Kya Maeendeeo Founder, Hon Augustus Kyalo Muli who is out of the country , said he started the women empowerment program as a way of promoting gender equality through providing Kitui women with a sustainable way of living .

    “Kyalo Kya Maendeeo CBO is all about letting this power out through encouraging our people to gain the skills and knowledge that will allow them to overcome obstacles in life and ultimately, help themselves develop .”

    He Said

    The several women groups currently showcasing their products at The Nairobi International Trade Fair , will at the end of the year travel to Burundi for a all COMESA packed trade fair , all expense paid for by the Dubai based businessman.

    All sales emanating from the basket weaving program will be shared equally between the participating women groups and a certain percentage will be set side to buy materials for their upcoming project.

    Mrs Elizabeth Muasya, who has been the lead trainer for program congratulated the women groups from Kitui County for their handwork and zeal promising them her support in ensuring their products get to the right market.

    President William Samoei Ruto is expected to officially open the Nairobi International Trade Fair tomorrow.
