The Kitui County Assembly this morning approved the County’s Supplementary Budget Estimates I for the 2025/2026 financial year, amounting to Kshs. 14,745,757,169, in line with Section 135 of the Public Finance Management Act, 2012, and Standing Orders Nos. 186 and 214.

Moving the motion on the floor of the House, the Chairperson of the County Budget and Appropriations Committee, Hon. Zacchaeus Syengo (Voo/Kyamatu), informed Members that the Supplementary Budget I for FY 2025/2026 reflects an upward adjustment of Kshs. 470,589,715 from the initially approved main budget of Kshs. 14,274,767,454.

“Mr. Speaker Sir, this adjustment was primarily necessitated by changes in the County’s Equitable Share and Conditional Grants as outlined in the County Allocation of Revenue Act (CARA), 2025, and the County Governments Additional Allocations Act (CGAAA), 2025,” said Hon. Syengo.

Members commended the Committee for its diligent work and urged the County Executive to move swiftly in implementing the approved supplementary budget.

Following the approval, the House also passed a motion for additional County Assembly sittings, pursuant to Standing Order No. 27(3)(b), to allow Members sufficient time to deliberate on the Kitui County Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2025 (County Assembly Bill No. 4 of 2025).
