The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended 121 public transport operators, including prominent Saccos like Kinatwa Prestige Ltd, Crown Bus Services Ltd, Mwanzo Mpya Shuttles Ltd, and others, due to non-compliance with regulatory requirements. This move comes as part of NTSA’s continued efforts to ensure safety and proper governance in the public transport sector.

In a statement released by NTSA, Kinatwa Prestige Ltd has been barred from operating along several key routes, including Nairobi, Machakos, Wote, Makindu, Kitui, Mutomo, Kibwezi, Mtito Andei, Ikutha, Voi, and Mombasa. This suspension is expected to impact thousands of commuters who rely on Kinatwa Prestige’s services, particularly in the Lower Eastern Region.

Other suspended operators include Mwanzo Mpya Shuttles Ltd, which has been restricted from operating in Kangundo, Mitaboni, Machakos, Kitui, and Mwingi. Namaki Transport Sacco has been suspended from the Machakos-Wote route, while Matwa Savings & Credit Society Ltd has been barred from operating in Nairobi, Kitengela, Machakos, and Makueni.

Gravitas Eagles Ltd has been restricted from operating the Afya Centre-Machakos via Mombasa Road, Wote, and Makindu routes. Meanwhile, Gucha Express Ltd has been suspended from the Railways-Mlolongo-Kitengela route.

NTSA’s decision follows extensive reviews of these Saccos’ operational practices, safety records, and overall compliance with transport regulations. The suspensions aim to enhance safety on the roads and reduce incidents caused by non-compliant operators. NTSA has emphasized that these suspensions will remain in effect until the operators meet the required standards.

Commuters in affected areas are advised to seek alternative transport options as the suspended operators work to address the compliance issues raised by NTSA.
