Veteran Burundian-Kenyan musician Kidum, born Jean-Pierre Nimbona, was on Thursday night involved in a road accident in Nairobi after the Range Rover he was travelling in reportedly overturned under unclear circumstances.
Images and videos circulating online showed the badly damaged luxury SUV lying on its side with a shattered windshield and vehicle parts scattered across the scene, sparking concern among fans across East Africa.

According to reports shared online, the celebrated singer was travelling alongside Kenyan musician Brian Sigu at the time of the accident. The two were reportedly rushed to Karen Hospital for treatment following the crash.
Unconfirmed reports further indicated that Kidum may have sustained a fractured hand, although neither the singer nor his management had officially commented on the extent of the injuries by the time of publication.

The incident quickly triggered an outpouring of concern on social media, with fans, fellow musicians and entertainment personalities sending messages of support and prayers for the veteran artiste known for hit songs such as Mapenzi, Haturudi Nyuma and Nakupenda.
Kidum remains one of East Africa’s most celebrated musicians, having built a career spanning more than three decades with a strong fanbase across Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania.
The cause of the accident and the exact circumstances leading to the crash were not immediately established.
