The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a police officer and a civilian for allegedly soliciting and receiving a bribe to act on a defilement complaint in Kibera, Nairobi.

Police Constable Philip Ochieng Adongo, attached to Sarangombe Police Post, is accused of demanding KSh 4,000 from a complainant as an inducement to arrest a suspect accused of defiling the complainant’s daughter — a case reported under OB No. 16/18/07/2025.

On August 13, 2025, EACC officers conducted a sting operation that resulted in the arrest of PC Adongo and civilian George Otieno Oywer. Investigators say Oywer received the money on behalf of the officer before both suspects were apprehended and processed at Integrity Centre.

The anti-graft agency has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating bribery at service delivery points to restore public trust and ensure victims of crime get justice without extortion.
