A former Kenyatta National Hospital employee has been has been found guilty of stealing medical drugs .
The court heard that Magdaline Wambui Nganga on December 2, 2021, at Kenyatta National Hospital in Upper Hill within Nairobi County, stole seven packets of Nepilet Nebivolon 5mg drugs, two packets of Atacand Candesartan 8mg drugs, 2 packets of AIRTAL 100mg drugs, two packets of Sildenafil 25g and one packet of Lamontrigine Lamictal 100mg all valued at Ksh15,156 the property of Kenyatta National Hospital.
In delivering her verdict, Milimani Chief Magistrate Hon. Susan Shitubi ruled that evidence presented in court by the prosecution through Nekira Kibera and Naomi Wanjiru proved that the medical supplies came into the possession of the accused person by virtue of her employment.
The court further heard that the accused was found carrying the drugs by security officers while leaving the Hospital.
The accused had been charged with two counts of stealing by servant contrary to section 281 of the penal code and handling stolen property contrary to section 322(1) as read with section 322(2) of the penal code.
The matter is scheduled for sentencing on May 28, 2024.
