Parents of Ithimani,in Katulani Sub-County, Kitui Central Constituency have closed down the school accusing the headmaster of rendering the institution a business centre and unsafe for learning.
Holding branches around the town rendering Itoleka road impassable, the parents protested against poor leadership of the school led by the headmaster demanding the closure of school and immediate transfer of the school head .
They vowed to withdraw their students from the school until their cry is heard by Kitui County education heads .
The parents further accused the school head of running a chicken rearing business at the school.
A close spot check by Channel 15 News revealed that indeed the school was rearing chicken in one of the school classrooms.
In another incident, a high school has been closed in Kitui South today under similar circumstances.
Kitoo Secondary in Kitui South Constituency, Mutomo Sub-County has been closed down for two days after the students staged a protest demanding transfer of the school principal.
The students accused the principal of mis mismanaging the institution and changing their diet . They are now demanding immediate transfer of the principal and change of the school’s policy.
