The Standing Committee on County Public Investments and Special Funds (CPIC) convened a crucial meeting on Wednesday, 28th August 2024, to discuss the financial management of various county entities in Kitui County under watch of governorMalombe.

Kitui County boss Dr Julius Makau Malombe responded by honoring the summons to answer to Auditor-General’s reports.

The session focused on interrogating the Auditor-General’s findings on the financial statements of the Kitui County Textile Center (KICOTEC) for the financial years 2019/2020, 2020/2021, and 2021/2022. Additionally, the committee scrutinized the financial statements of various county hospitals for the financial year 2021/2022.

Dr. Malombe provided insights into the operations and financial health of these institutions, addressing issues highlighted by the Auditor-General. The meeting aimed to ensure accountability and transparency in the management of public resources within the county.

The Auditor-General’s reports have been pivotal in shedding light on the financial activities of county entities, prompting the CPIC to take a closer look at how public funds are being utilized.

The outcome of this interrogation is expected to influence future financial management practices in Kitui County, with a focus on enhancing efficiency and curbing any potential mismanagement of funds.

The committee’s findings and recommendations will be closely watched, as they could have significant implications for governance and service delivery in the region.
