In a dramatic turn of events, the government appears to be cracking down on live protest coverage, with police officers and officials from the Communications Authority of Kenya reportedly storming NTV’s Limuru transmission station and forcefully switching off its Free-to-Air signal.

KTN News has also been taken off air on Free-to-Air platforms following a directive issued earlier by the Communications Authority instructing media houses to halt all live coverage of the ongoing anti-Finance Bill protests.

Despite the clampdown, KTN News remains accessible via digital platforms including YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter, where live coverage continues uninterrupted.
This bold move has triggered widespread concern over press freedom, with media stakeholders and civil society calling for immediate restoration of broadcast rights and respect for the constitutional freedom of the press.
