In a notable political development, Richard Moitalel Ole Kenta, formerly a key political operator for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in Narok, has joined the Jubilee Party as its new Secretary General. The announcement came after a National Executive Council meeting chaired by former Cabinet Secretary who is the party’spresidential hopeful Fred Matiang’i.
Ole Kenta, who was previously groomed as Gachagua’s preferred gubernatorial candidate under the Democratic Change Party (DCP), now assumes a central role in Jubilee’s leadership, overseeing party operations and strategic planning ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The move signals a shift in political alignments, with Jubilee aiming to strengthen its structures and present a disciplined, nationally-focused platform. Kenta’s experience as a former Member of Parliament, advocate of the High Court of Kenya, and leader in various public institutions equips him to play a pivotal role in the party’s organizational and electoral efforts.
While his defection has attracted attention from both Jubilee and DCP supporters, the appointment reflects Jubilee’s intent to consolidate talent and experience to navigate the evolving political landscape. Party leadership emphasized that the reorganization is designed to enhance discipline, policy clarity, and grassroots engagement, with all key figures working collaboratively to prepare for the next general election.

As Jubilee positions itself for 2027, Ole Kenta’s appointment marks a significant step in the party’s efforts to strengthen its internal leadership while also highlighting the fluid nature of political alliances in Kenya.
