An early political wave appears to be forming in Kitui County ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Hon. Fridah Makasi emerging as the clear favorite in a 24-hour opinion poll conducted by Channel 15 News.
The digital poll, which ran from 8:00 AM on Tuesday to 8:00 AM Wednesday , sought to gauge public sentiment on who residents would prefer as the next Kitui Women Representative. By the time voting closed, more than 500 participants had cast their votes — offering an early snapshot of political leanings within the county.

What stood out was Makasi’s commanding performance. She secured an overwhelming majority of the votes, accounting for roughly seven out of every ten respondents. Her closest competitor trailed far behind, capturing just over a fifth of the total vote, while the rest of the candidates shared only a small fraction of the remaining support.
The results suggest that Makasi currently enjoys strong grassroots enthusiasm and significant name recognition across digital spaces.

Political observers note that while WhatsApp polls are not scientific surveys, they often reflect mobilization strength and the ability of aspirants to energize supporters — especially in an increasingly digital political landscape.
With the 2027 race still in its early stages, such dominance could influence perceptions, shape alliances, and position Makasi as the candidate to watch in what is expected to be a competitive contest for the Kitui Women Representative seat.

As the political season gradually takes shape in the Lower Eastern region, one thing is becoming evident: the ground is already shifting — and Fridah Makasi appears to be riding the first visible wave.
