Police have launched investigations into a shocking incident in Makueni County after a former Member of County Assembly (MCA) died in hospital following an alleged attack in which he was burned inside his car by a relative over a KSh 50,000 dispute.
According to preliminary reports, the former Nziu Ward legislator suffered severe burn injuries after a confrontation reportedly erupted between him and the suspect over the money. The disagreement is said to have escalated into a violent altercation, during which the suspect allegedly set the vehicle ablaze while the former ward representative was inside.

The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment, triggering shock and outrage among residents and leaders in the area who described the incident as both tragic and disturbing.
Detectives have since launched a probe to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the attack. Police sources say the suspect, believed to be a close relative of the deceased, is being sought as investigations intensify.
Authorities are currently recording statements from witnesses and family members as part of the ongoing inquiry, while forensic teams are expected to examine the burnt vehicle as crucial evidence in the case.
The incident has sparked widespread concern in the community, with local leaders urging residents to resolve disputes amicably and avoid resorting to violence over financial disagreements.

The body of the former MCA has been moved to a mortuary as detectives continue with investigations into the chilling incident.
