The Speaker of the Kitui County Assembly, Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, today led a delegation of Assembly leaders on an inspection tour of Migwani A.I.C Primary School in Migwani Ward, Mwingi West Constituency where fhe first ever County Assembly ” Bunge Mashinani Session” will be held .
The visit was part of the preparations for the inaugural Bunge Mashinani session, scheduled to take place from November 18 to 22, 2024. The leadership team assessed the school’s facilities, including the field designated for the main plenary tent, classrooms repurposed as committee rooms, lavatories, and other necessary amenities to ensure the smooth running of the sessions.
For the first time, the County Assembly will hold its plenary and committee meetings outside the main chambers in Kitui Town. These grassroots-based sittings will adhere to all the legislative procedures observed in the Assembly’s headquarters.
“I am truly impressed by the exceptional work done here so far. The dedication and effort put into preparing this area are commendable. The House is ready to host its inaugural Bunge Mashinani session in Migwani, and I believe it will set a great example for similar future initiatives,” said Speaker Kinengo.
As part of the visit, the delegation paid a courtesy call to the host Member of County Assembly (MCA) and Leader of the Majority Party, Hon. Harrison Maluki, at his office.
The Bunge Mashinani initiative demonstrates the County Assembly’s commitment to bringing legislative functions closer to the people, fostering inclusivity, and enhancing public participation in governance.
