Mwalimu Hails Ruto Over Launch of Key Road and Hostel Projects in Mwingi North

Mwingi North UDA parliamentary aspirant and Advocate of the High Court Hon. Charles Mwalimu has welcomed the launch of major road and education infrastructure projects in Tseikuru, saying they reflect progress towards development commitments made to residents during the 2022 election campaign.

Mwalimu joined President William Ruto during the launch of the Kandwia–Kyuso–Twimyua–Tseikuru Road project and the construction of modern student hostels at the upgraded Tseikuru National Polytechnic.

The two projects are expected to strengthen transport connectivity, improve access to education and expand economic opportunities for residents of the constituency.

Taking to his public communication platforms after the events, Mwalimu described the launches as a milestone for Mwingi North, arguing that the projects were a step towards turning earlier development pledges into tangible investments.

“We came, we promised, and today we made good on that promise!” he said.

Mwalimu expressed gratitude to President Ruto for supporting the projects, which he said were part of a development vision shared with residents during the campaign trail three years ago.

“Three years ago, this was a vision we shared with you on the campaign trail. Today, it is a reality,” he said.

The Kandwia–Kyuso–Twimyua–Tseikuru road corridor is expected to improve movement between communities, markets and essential services. Better road connectivity could also ease the transportation of agricultural produce and livestock, support local businesses and improve access to schools and healthcare facilities.

For residents in the largely rural constituency, reliable road infrastructure remains an important factor in linking communities to economic opportunities and public services.

The road project therefore places the focus on implementation, with residents expected to look to the responsible government agencies for timely completion, quality workmanship and value for public money.

Mwalimu also highlighted the launch of construction works for modern student hostels at Tseikuru National Polytechnic, describing the investment as an important step towards improving the learning environment for young people pursuing technical and vocational training.

Adequate student accommodation can help address housing challenges faced by learners, particularly those travelling from distant parts of Mwingi North and neighbouring areas to access vocational education.

The investment also comes amid growing emphasis on technical and vocational education as a pathway towards skills development, employment and self-reliance among young people.

Mwalimu said the two projects represented progress in addressing infrastructure and education needs in the constituency, while calling for continued investment in the region.

He thanked President Ruto for what he described as his commitment to the transformation of Mwingi North.

“To the great people of Mwingi North, the work has just begun!” he said.

Mwalimu is seeking the Mwingi North parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket ahead of the 2027 General Election. His latest remarks place infrastructure development, education and the fulfilment of public commitments at the centre of his political message.

As political activity builds towards the next general election, the implementation and eventual impact of development projects are likely to remain important issues for residents assessing the progress made in their constituency.

For Mwingi North, the immediate priority will be ensuring that the road and hostel projects move from launch ceremonies to completed facilities that deliver lasting benefits to local communities.
