Former Kitui governor Hon Charity Ngilu has praised Generation Z protests currently being witnessed nationwide and running into third week none stop pushing for radical changes in Kenyan way of leadership and matters affecting the nation.
In a statement issued via a popular Kitui Whattssap Group with over 1000 members, Ngilu said in her political career she has never witnessed such a relentless resolve by young people.
“We’ve ourselves said “punda imechoka” which seemed like an empty phrase.
It’s now being shown life-life. And obviously there no turning back.
I can only encourage the Gen Z and commend their determination and push for their rights.” She said
The former Kitui boss reminded Kenyans the words of former president, the late Kibaki who once said Kenya has enough space for all of us but not for some people’s greed.
She encouraged the youths to keep fighting for a better country promising them that it wont go in vain.
Ngilu’s remarks comes in the wake of a visit by Kitui South Generation Z protests at Kitui South CDF where they demanded to be addressed by their area Mp who was in supported of now defunct Finance Bill 2024.
During the protest , two groups clashed. One group which was against the visit to CDF offices caused violence as they tried to stop the generation Z from holding the protest.
One person was armed with crude on being questioned he claimed they had been paid Ksh 2500 to counter the protest and protect the Mps offices from getting burned. He was arrested and he is currently held at Mutomo Police Station.
