In a desperate plea to salvage the crumbling County Assembly, Speaker Kevin Kinengo Katisya has issued a fervent call for peace and unity, warning that internal wrangles are threatening to paralyze governance. As the Assembly adjourns for the April recess, Kinengo painted a grim picture of a House ravaged by division, political backstabbing, and leadership wrangles—a situation that has left the Assembly’s credibility in shambles.

Delivering his address before the recess, Kinengo did not mince words, blaming the internal power struggles within the Wiper Party for grinding the Assembly’s business to a near halt.
“Honourable Members, we are at a breaking point! Infighting has shattered our unity, stalled critical decisions, and left the people questioning our ability to lead,” he lamented.

The Speaker’s emotional appeal to MCAs to embrace reconciliation and put service above personal interests came after months of relentless political wars that have seen factions within the Assembly tear into each other, blocking key legislative processes.

Quoting Romans 12:18, Kinengo urged MCAs to “live at peace with everyone”—a biblical cry that exposed the depth of crisis facing the House. But will his words fall on deaf ears?
Kauwi Ward MCA, Hon. Gabriel Munyao, backed the Speaker’s sentiments, admitting that without peace, the Assembly was headed for total collapse.

With an Assembly engulfed in political chaos, Speaker Kinengo’s call for unity may be the final attempt to rescue a sinking ship—or a mere whisper in a storm of betrayal, intrigue, and deep-seated grudges.
Will the MCAs listen? Or is the County Assembly doomed to self-destruction? The coming weeks will tell.
