Kitui, January 21, 2025 – The Catholic Diocese of Kitui is in mourning following the passing of Rev. Fr. Frederick Nguthu, who breathed his last on Monday morning at 8:00 AM while receiving treatment at Neema Hospital, Kitui.

Until his demise, Fr. Nguthu was serving at St. Paul’s Parish, Kwa Kilui, where he was a dedicated shepherd to his flock. His commitment to the priesthood and unwavering service to the faithful will be deeply missed.

Fr. Nguthu was ordained to the Sacred Priesthood in 2002, alongside Rev. Frs. Peter Muvea, Urbanus Kamwilwa, Andrew Nzule, Richard Kyenze, Onesmus T. Macharia, and the late Francis Kimanthi. Over the years, he served in various capacities within the diocese, touching many lives with his pastoral care, wisdom, and humility.

His passing has left a profound void in the Catholic community, with clergy, parishioners, and friends expressing their sorrow. The Diocese has called on the faithful to keep Fr. Nguthu in their prayers and to remember his contributions to the Church.

“Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in eternal peace. Amen.”

    Funeral Arrangements

The Diocese of Kitui is expected to release details regarding the funeral and memorial services in the coming days. Faithful and well-wishers are encouraged to join in celebrating the life and ministry of Fr. Nguthu.
