Nairobi, Kenya – October 7, 2024
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has assured Kenyans that he will face the National Assembly to defend himself against the impending impeachment proceedings. In a bold address from his Karen residence, Gachagua dismissed calls for his resignation and instead declared that he is fully prepared to answer the charges leveled against him.
This development comes as the public participation process across the 47 counties is wrapping up, with the impeachment vote expected to take place soon. Gachagua, facing 11 grounds for impeachment, emphasized his commitment to serving the nation and criticized what he termed as “politically motivated attacks.”
The Deputy President has called for calm among his supporters, stating, “I have done nothing wrong, and I will prove my innocence before the National Assembly.”
As political tensions rise, all eyes are on the National Assembly as 233 MPs will be required to vote for his removal if the motion proceeds.
