CRISIS LOOMS: Okiya Omtatah Warns of National Disaster as IEBC Stalemate Deepens

Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has sounded the alarm, warning that Kenya is dangerously skating on thin ice by operating without a fully constituted Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). Speaking passionately, Omtatah declared that the country is courting disaster as political and legal battles paralyze the restoration of the electoral body’s functionality.

At the heart of the deadlock lies a fiery tug-of-war between Wiper Party’s nominee, Dr. Koki Muli, and NLP’s Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, who are locked in a fierce battle for the position representing small political parties in the IEBC Selection Panel. While the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal recently endorsed Dr. Augustus Muli, Dr. Koki Muli has vowed to fight tooth and nail to overturn the ruling, plunging the process into uncharted waters.

Senator Omtatah has warned that the prolonged stalemate is not just a political inconvenience but a ticking time bomb that threatens the very foundation of Kenya’s democracy. “This is a recipe for disaster. Without a functional IEBC, we are staring at a constitutional and electoral crisis of epic proportions,” he declared.

As the legal battles rage on, the clock is ticking, and the nation is left to wonder: will Kenya survive this electoral impasse, or is the country hurtling towards chaos?
