Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has raised alarm over his safety, claiming he is under constant surveillance by state agents. In a statement released Monday, Gachagua detailed incidents of unmarked vehicles trailing him and monitoring his visitors, likening the intimidation to the oppressive tactics of the Moi era.

Gachagua alleged that a suspicious saloon car with falsified number plates recently followed him to church, a lunch venue, and back to his residence. He linked this to a broader pattern of extrajudicial killings and forced disappearances, calling on Kenyans to hold the state accountable if harm befalls him.

“You hounded me out of office, and you should now allow me to enjoy my peace as a private citizen,” he pleaded, urging the government to halt the alleged harassment. The government has yet to respond to the explosive claims.
