Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria was heckled and forced to cut short his speech last night at a popular entertainment joint in Githurai 44. The incident took place during the launch of the “Mbeca” album by rising Mungithi artist Tony Young at Club SNL.

The hostile crowd, angered by the recent impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua by the National Assembly, interrupted Kuria with anti-President William Ruto slogans. As he attempted to address the audience, the chants of “Ruto Must Go” filled the venue, with the crowd repeatedly invoking Gachagua’s name in protest.

Kuria, who had been invited to give a speech and offer a donation, was forced to leave the stage as the crowd refused to listen to him. This marks the third time in recent days that Mount Kenya allies of President Ruto have faced public backlash.

Earlier, on Friday 11th, Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika was similarly booed at a funeral in Bobilioni Village, Bahati Constituency. The crowd dismissed her as she attempted to read President Ruto’s condolences to the family of the late Henry Gachie, brother of Bahati MP Irene Gachie.

These incidents suggest growing public dissatisfaction with President Ruto’s leadership, particularly among the Mount Kenya electorate.
