    In a significant shift in the County Assembly leadership, Hon. Harrison Maluki Mawia (Migwani) and Hon. Bonface Mukwate Katula (Kanyangi) have been appointed as the new Leader of the Majority Party and Majority Party Whip, respectively.

    This change was officially announced during today’s morning sitting, replacing Hon. Munyoki Mwinzi (Kyuso) and Hon. Daniel Kimanzi Ngoima (Township) in these key positions.

    The County Assembly Speaker, Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, communicated the decision to the House, citing Standing Order Nos. 15 (8), (9), and (10). According to the Speaker, the Whip of the Majority Party submitted a letter dated 3rd September 2024, along with minutes and resolutions from the party members, to his office. The documents outlined the decisions made by the Majority Party regarding the leadership positions.

    Speaker Kinengo officially informed the House that Hon. Munyoki Mwinzi has been removed from his role as the Leader of the Majority Party with immediate effect and replaced by Hon. Harrison Maluki Mawia. Similarly, Hon. Daniel Kimanzi Ngoima has been relieved of his duties as the Majority Party Whip, with Hon. Bonface Mukwate Katula stepping into the role.

    In his remarks, Speaker Kinengo congratulated the newly appointed leaders, expressing his confidence in their abilities to steer the party forward. “I extend my best wishes for success in their new roles and assure them of my full support as they transition into their new responsibilities. My office shall remain open for any consultations or assistance they may require,” he stated.The Speaker also called on all members of the County Assembly to support and cooperate with the new leaders as they take on their leadership duties. In addition, he acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing leaders, Hon. Munyoki Mwinzi and Hon. Daniel Kimanzi Ngoima, thanking them for their service to the House and wishing them well in their future endeavors.This leadership change marks a new chapter for the Majority Party, with expectations high for the new leaders to bring fresh energy and direction to the House. The Assembly now looks forward to how Hon. Mawia and Hon. Katula will shape the legislative agenda in their new roles.
