Livestock Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke has marked his 50th birthday alongside fellow senior government officials in Malindi, Kilifi County, where Principal Secretaries convened for their Seventh Forum of 2026 to review key national priorities and assess progress in implementing government programmes.
The meeting, chaired by Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, focused on preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), national security, El Niño preparedness, improved project delivery and the promotion of locally manufactured Kenyan products.

In his remarks, Koskei said the meeting followed a working tour of the Lower Tana Irrigation Cluster at Bura and Galana Kulalu, where officials assessed investments in irrigation, food security and agricultural production.

The forum also reviewed progress on previous government directives and examined the Delivery Information System, which integrates verified field reports, satellite imagery and project data to strengthen monitoring, accountability and timely delivery of government projects.
On AFCON 2027, Koskei said preparations extended beyond stadiums to include transport, security, health services, immigration, accommodation and essential infrastructure as Kenya prepares to co-host the tournament with Uganda and Tanzania.
Another key discussion centred on the Buy Kenya, Wear Kenya, Promote Kenya initiative, which seeks to strengthen the textile and apparel value chain, from cotton farming and manufacturing to fashion and retail, with the aim of creating jobs and supporting local industries.

Mueke said the discussions also emphasised accountability, coordination and timely implementation of government directives, noting that the ultimate priority was to translate government commitments into tangible improvements in the lives of Kenyans.
“Our focus remains on translating Government commitments into tangible results that improve the lives of Kenyans,” he said.
Koskei similarly said the government was entering the final stretch of 2026 with an emphasis on completing ongoing programmes and ensuring citizens experience the results of government commitments.

Away from the official discussions, the Malindi gathering also provided an opportunity for Mueke’s colleagues to celebrate his 50th birthday.
The Livestock Principal Secretary expressed gratitude for the gesture, saying he was deeply touched by the love and kindness shown to him by fellow Principal Secretaries.
“My heart is full. Deeply touched by the love and kindness from my colleagues. Thank you for making my 50th birthday so special. I am truly grateful,” he said.
