Sky Victor, daughter of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo, has made an emotional appeal to President William Ruto following a court ruling on the custody of her and her brother, Danny, declaring that she wants to remain with Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash.
Sky’s appeal comes a day after a court reportedly ruled in favour of her biological father, controversial preacher Pastor Victor Kanyari, in the dispute over who should care for the two children following their mother’s death.

In a strongly worded statement, Sky rejected the prospect of living with Kanyari, saying her previous experience at his home had been traumatic and that she did not consider him a father who had been actively involved in raising them.

Her appeal to the President comes amid growing public attention surrounding the family dispute, with Sky insisting that her wishes and emotional wellbeing should be considered in decisions affecting her future.
“The last time we went to his place, it was very traumatising. He took my phone, my makeup, my clothes. He locked us in the house. He took my phone to make sure I didn’t communicate with Tash,” Sky said.
The teenager further accused Kanyari of failing to provide adequate support after separating from her mother, claiming that she and her brother endured difficult circumstances while growing up.
“When my mom separated with Kanyari, we suffered. We did not even have seats in our house. Kanyari never helped. But when we started blowing on social media, there he is,” she said.
Sky also questioned her relationship with her biological father, saying she did not know him well enough to feel comfortable living under his care.
“I don’t even know him personally. The route he took my mom, he won’t take me through it,” she added.
Sky Credits Tash With Playing a Fatherly Role
Defending her wish to remain with Tash, Sky said he had stepped in to provide the parental support she believes she and her brother needed.
She questioned why they should now be separated from someone she considers a father figure following the death of their mother.

“Kanyari has never played his roles correctly as a father up to date. Someone else, Tash, stepped in and played so well. And now he wants to take that away from us,” Sky said.
Her remarks have brought renewed attention to the competing roles of Kanyari, the children’s biological father, and Tash, who had been part of their household with Betty Bayo before her death.
At the heart of the dispute is the question of who will care for the children as they navigate life without their mother. Sky’s public statement makes clear that she wants to remain in the familiar environment she associates with Tash rather than move to her biological father’s home.

By appealing to President Ruto, Sky is seeking intervention in a dispute whose legal outcome will ultimately depend on the applicable court orders and any further proceedings.
Her account of the alleged experiences at Kanyari’s home has not been independently verified, and his response to the latest allegations was not available at the time of publication.
The precise terms of the court ruling should be confirmed against the original court order before publication.
