The family of the late John “Daddie” Otieno, a former FC Dynamo Kitui footballer, has announced funeral arrangements ahead of his final send-off following his death after a battle with colon cancer.

According to a statement released by the family, Otieno will be laid to rest on Monday, July 20, 2026, at his ancestral home in Homa Bay County. His body will leave Kitui on Sunday, July 19, ahead of the burial service.

The family said any updates or changes to the funeral programme will be communicated in due course and appealed to friends, football fans and well-wishers to support the funeral preparations.

Contributions can be made through Till Number 4781397, under the name John Otieno.

Otieno, fondly known as “Daddie,” was a familiar figure in Kitui’s football circles, where he earned admiration for his dedication and passion for the sport while featuring for FC Dynamo Kitui. His illness and subsequent death drew an outpouring of grief from teammates, supporters and the wider football fraternity, many of whom had rallied behind him during his battle with colon cancer.

The family has called on relatives, friends and members of the public to join them in giving the late footballer a dignified and befitting final send-off.
