A middle-aged motorcycle rider lost his life on Tuesday following a fatal road accident involving a saloon car at Mitaboni in Kathiani Sub-County, Machakos County.
According to police reports, the rider, who was transporting a consignment of muguka, was involved in a head-on collision with the oncoming saloon car under circumstances that are still under investigation.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Mitaboni Level II Hospital for emergency treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival while receiving medical attention.

Police officers who visited the scene launched investigations to establish the exact cause of the accident. The body of the deceased was moved to a local mortuary pending identification and postmortem examination.
The latest incident adds to the growing number of road crashes involving boda boda operators across the country, raising fresh concerns over road safety and adherence to traffic regulations among motorists and motorcycle riders.
Authorities have urged all road users to exercise caution and observe traffic rules to help reduce the rising number of fatalities on Kenyan roads.
