A sombre mood has engulfed Kamba land following the tragic death of prominent businessman and investor Stephen Ngei Musyoka, the founder of Makindu Motors Ltd, and his wife Giannaphina Mumbua Ngei in a road accident.

The news of the couple’s passing was confirmed by Kibwezi West MP Hon. Mwengi Mutuse on Saturday , who described the tragedy as a devastating loss to the family, the business community, and the wider Ukambani region.

In a condolence message, Mutuse said he received the news with shock and disbelief, noting that the deceased were personally known to him and were part of his extended family.

“I have received the sad news of the passing on of my brother, Mr. Stephen Ngei Musyoka, and his beloved wife, Mrs. Giannaphina Mumbua Ngei, in a road accident with great shock and disbelief,” said the legislator.

Stephen Ngei was widely respected for building Makindu Motors Ltd into one of the region’s most successful automobile companies. The firm specializes in the assembly and sale of motorcycles and other motor vehicles, creating employment opportunities for hundreds of Kenyans and contributing significantly to economic growth.

His entrepreneurial journey was often cited as an inspiration to many aspiring business people across the country. Rising from humble beginnings, Ngei established himself as one of the most influential investors in the Ukambani region through hard work, determination, and a strong business vision.

According to Mutuse, Ngei’s success story inspired countless young entrepreneurs while helping transform the economic landscape of the region.

“Mr. Ngei rose from extremely humble beginnings to become a highly industrious entrepreneur and arguably the most successful businessman and investor in the entire Ukambani region. His remarkable journey inspired many and contributed immensely to job creation and the general socio-economic growth of our region,” he said.

The lawmaker extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and associates of the deceased couple as they come to terms with the painful loss.

The deaths of Stephen Ngei and his wife have sparked an outpouring of grief across social media, with leaders, business associates, employees, and residents paying tribute to a couple whose impact on business and community development will be remembered for generations.

Details surrounding the accident were not immediately available.

“May his kind soul, and that of his beloved wife, rest in eternal peace,” Mutuse concluded.
