The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has linked the brutal murder of a PCEA cleric in Nakuru to a notorious criminal gang known for carrying out violent armed robberies.
In a press release dated May 12, 2026, the DCI revealed that Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari was killed on the night of Sunday, May 3, 2026, at PCEA Tabuga Church in Nakuru North Sub-County.
Investigators say sustained forensic and intelligence-led operations have firmly connected the incident to a gang that was first profiled in July 2022. The group is known for executing armed robberies while disguised in security forces’ uniforms and using a L1A1 firearm, which police recovered in 2024.

The same gang has also been linked to a separate violent robbery that occurred on May 1, 2026, where KSh 600,000 was fraudulently transferred from a victim’s bank account to mobile numbers associated with the suspects.
Authorities now believe the gang could be behind a wider pattern of violent attacks and robberies reported across Nakuru County and its surrounding areas.
The DCI noted that advanced forensic examinations are ongoing, with experts working to place suspects at the crime scene and strengthen the case ahead of prosecution.
While reaffirming its commitment to delivering justice, the agency urged members of the public to remain calm, avoid speculation, and cooperate with investigators.
