Employees working at the Magunas Supermarket Kitui Branch have raised fresh concerns about working conditions at the outlet, weeks after similar complaints were reportedly shared by staff at the same branch.
According to individuals who identified themselves as employees and spoke to Channel 15 News on condition of anonymity, some workers have previously expressed concerns about long working hours that allegedly stretch from early morning to late at night.
The employees further claim that staff sometimes face restrictions when attempting to purchase food during their shifts despite the extended working hours. Others also alleged salary discrepancies and pressure on employees to sign for stock variances or compensate for damaged or expired goods.
In the latest concerns shared with Channel 15 News, one worker also alleged that interactions with a supervisor at the branch have at times left some members of staff feeling uncomfortable while carrying out their duties.

Workers who spoke to Channel 15 News said they requested anonymity due to fear of possible repercussions at their workplace.
Some employees now hope the concerns raised will prompt the company’s leadership to review staff welfare and working conditions at the branch.
The concerns come amid broader discussions around employee welfare and fair working environments in workplaces across Kitui and other parts of the country.
Channel 15 News has reached out to the management of Magunas Supermarket seeking comment regarding the concerns raised by employees at the Kitui branch. No response had been received by the time of publication.
Channel 15 News has not independently verified the claims and will update this story should the company provide an official response.
