Endau Malani MCA and Deputy Majority Leader in the Kitui County Assembly, Erastus Mbubo, has departed for Gusii land ahead of this week’s highly anticipated United Opposition rallies led by Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka.

Dr. Mbubo, a known loyalist and political foot soldier of Kalonzo, confirmed he was on his way to Nyamira County to receive the former Vice President and mobilize support ahead of consultative meetings and rallies scheduled across the Gusii region.

“On the way to Nyamira County to receive H.E. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and say hello to our Abagusii cousins. Kesho tuko graundi na SKM,” Mbubo said in a message to supporters.

Loyalty Amid Kitui Assembly Leadership Wrangles

Mbubo’s public declaration of allegiance comes against the backdrop of prolonged leadership wrangles within the Kitui County Assembly, where divisions over House leadership nearly disrupted legislative operations during a significant period of the Assembly’s term.

At one point, shifting political alignments saw sections of the Assembly perceived to be leaning toward the government side, triggering internal disputes that slowed county business and created uncertainty over the stability of leadership structures.

During the height of the wrangles, Kalonzo — as Wiper Party leader and the region’s political kingpin — put the Assembly leadership on notice, warning against actions that undermined party unity and cautioning MCAs against destabilizing county governance.

Political observers say Mbubo’s early departure to Gusii and his vocal support for Kalonzo signals a firm reaffirmation of loyalty to the party leadership, particularly after months of turbulence in Kitui’s legislative arm.

    United Opposition Targets Gusii Bloc
The United Opposition coalition has intensified grassroots engagements ahead of the 2027 General Election, with the Gusii region — comprising Nyamira County and Kisii County — viewed as politically strategic in shaping national alliances.

This week’s rallies are expected to focus on economic concerns, governance accountability, and coalition-building efforts aimed at consolidating support beyond traditional party strongholds.

By arriving ahead of the main events, Mbubo positions himself as one of Kalonzo’s advance mobilizers, reinforcing Wiper’s outreach strategy as the opposition bloc builds momentum toward 2027.

As the United Opposition caravan rolls into Gusii land, attention will now shift to the turnout, messaging, and the broader implications for national political realignments in the coming months.
