East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Winnie Odinga has strongly dismissed claims by businessman Oketch Salah that he was present during the final moments of her late father, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, terming the assertions false, dangerous, and deeply troubling.
Speaking out on the matter, Winnie said she has previously met Salah but questioned his public profile and credibility, noting that his statements were not only untrue but also misleading. She warned that spreading false narratives about such a sensitive and personal moment raises serious concerns about motive and intent.

According to Winnie, Salah’s claims that he was present at the time of Raila Odinga’s death are a “flat-out lie,” insisting that he was not there and that the events he described never occurred. She cautioned that fabricating details around the death of a national figure and family patriarch is reckless and could have far-reaching consequences.
“This is quite dangerous and makes me question his intentions,” Winnie said, adding that the seriousness of the claims warrants immediate intervention.
She suggested that the matter be subjected to scrutiny by either law enforcement agencies or mental health professionals, citing the potential harm caused by the falsehoods.
Her remarks come amid growing concern over misinformation and the politicisation of private family matters following the passing of the veteran opposition leader, whose death marked the end of a significant chapter in Kenya’s political history.
Winnie’s statement underscores the family’s resolve to protect Raila Odinga’s legacy and push back against narratives they consider false, exploitative, or aimed at gaining public attention at the expense of truth and dignity.
