Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has arrived in Lagos, Nigeria, accompanied by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, ahead of the Future Africa Leaders Awards, a continental initiative aimed at recognising and nurturing outstanding young African leaders.

The Future Africa Leaders Awards seek to identify, celebrate, and support youths who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and innovation while positively impacting their communities. The programme places strong emphasis on education, youth empowerment, mentorship, and social transformation, positioning young people as key drivers of Africa’s present and future development.
Uhuru’s presence at the ceremony reflects his growing role in pan-African youth advocacy, leadership development, and regional dialogue since leaving office. The former Head of State has consistently engaged in forums that promote intergenerational leadership, peace-building, and inclusive governance across the continent.

Kalonzo Musyoka’s participation further underscores Kenya’s political leadership interest in youth-centred development and continental cooperation, as African leaders and stakeholders gather in Lagos to spotlight transformative ideas and inspire the next generation of leadership.

The Lagos event is expected to bring together young innovators, policymakers, civil society actors, and development partners from across Africa, reinforcing the importance of investing in youth-led solutions for sustainable growth and inclusive development.
