The late Kabati businessman David Ngii Kuvungwa, popularly known as Shabiki, has been laid to rest today at his family home in Kasue, Kitui West, in an emotional ceremony attended by top county leaders and hundreds of mourners.

Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua and Kitui West MP Edith Nyenze led residents, traders, and members of the business community in bidding farewell to the hardware owner, who was brutally killed by thugs in Kabati Town last month.
In a heartfelt tribute, Senator Kiio described Ngii as a visionary entrepreneur whose commitment to building a strong business empire made him one of Kabati’s most admired traders. He condoled with the family and urged them to safeguard and expand the enterprise he had dedicated his life to growing.

At the same time, the Senator endorsed a planned meeting by the Kabati business community, calling it a critical step toward restoring safety in the rapidly expanding trading centre. The proposed measures include the construction of a police post, increased patrols, and the installation of CCTV cameras to curb rising crime.
“The death of Shabiki must be the last. We cannot allow criminals to terrorize hardworking citizens,” Senator Kiio told mourners.

MP Edith Nyenze echoed the call for improved security, assuring residents that leaders would work with law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is served and similar tragedies are prevented.

The killing of Ngii sent shockwaves through Kabati Town, where he was well known for his generosity, business foresight, and close ties with fellow entrepreneurs. His death has intensified pressure on authorities to address the surge in insecurity reported in parts of Kitui West.
Ngii leaves behind a legacy of hard work, community service, and entrepreneurial excellence — a legacy that mourners vowed to protect as they sent him to his final resting place.
