The deceased was well known both on the football pitch and in the classroom for his discipline, leadership, and calm demeanor. Colleagues at the teachers’ college described him as a passionate educator and mentor who was deeply committed to helping his students succeed. Those who played alongside him at MCF FC remembered him as a hardworking midfielder who gave his all for the team and inspired younger players with his humility and resilience.

In a statement, the management of MCF FC expressed their condolences, saying, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Hillary Ochieng Minudi. His contribution to the club and to the development of young talent will forever be remembered. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”

The news of his death has sparked widespread grief among former teammates, fans, and members of the teaching fraternity, many of whom took to social media to share heartfelt tributes and memories.

Minudi’s death once again highlights the growing concern over insecurity in parts of northern Kenya, where cases of violent attacks have been on the rise. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and assist police with any information that could help bring the perpetrators to justice.

Plans for a memorial service and funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by his family in consultation with MCF FC and Garissa Teachers College. His death leaves behind a deep void in both the sporting and educational communities that he served with passion and integrity.
